The use of collaborative maps in crisis situations is not new (Kenya in 2008, Haiti in 2010, etc.), and the Covid19 pandemic has brought them back into focus. These maps are a clear example of collective intelligence and are used to geolocate information that can be useful for citizens and for government agencies, whether local or national, that try to deal with the situation.

Using crowdsourcing to teach machines?
Moral dilemmas are situations in which there is no “good choice”: any decision you take will imply a damage for someone (that’s the dilemma). To get a generalized view of how the crowd believes that an autonomous car should behave, the MIT created the crowdsourcing initiative “Moral Machine”.

As a bit of self-hype is not bad from time to time, I’m glad to share with you that on July 26, last friday, I finally made my Ph.D. dissertation about the relationship between crowdsourcing and collective intelligence. It’s great to finish a cycle and it’s great (really great) to become a doctor (Ph.D.).

As I said on other posts, crowdsourcing is related and feeds from a group of terms such as Open Innovation, Collective Intelligence or Co-Creation. In this post I’m going to clarify the relationship between collective intelligence and crowdsourcing.
